The first day of the year is always a good moment for a wrap-up. It is also the perfect time to set a goal for the next 52 weeks.
Work wrap up
Last year was not as productive as I would have liked, but I still managed to accomplish quite a bit:
- 9 commits to WordPress Core
- 15 PRs in Gutenberg, mainly focused on Block Bindings
- 4 Gutenberg releases
- Around 60 PRs in Secure Custom Fields
- 2 mice broken
- 1 keyboard broken
I did not attend any tech events this year. I only spent a couple of hours at WordCamp Madrid. Since it is close to home, I went mainly to say hello to a few friends.
Sometimes I miss attending this type of event. At the same time, I am happy to spend more time with my family. These events usually happen on weekends, and that trade-off matters.
Fun wrap up
I took a couple of trips with the family, nothing fancy. Just a short visit to the north of Spain and another to the west coast.
Videogames
I use a WordPress site to track my videogame backlog, which I discovered is a great tool for it. I built a plugin that connects to IGDB and retrieves games as a custom WordPress post type. It also stores extra information such as release date, developer, and platform.
On top of that, it tracks where the game is played and whether it is lent to or borrowed from a friend.
Books
I should probably do something similar for books, but I do not have enough time. A Goodreads screenshot will have to do.

I completed The Three-Body Problem saga.
Sports
This year I started playing padel, and… it is really fun. I played 35 matches. I also walked a lot, although I did not track it.
Getting some exercise is a must for sedentary jobs like mine.
2026 main goal
My main goal for 2026 is… survive.
It may sound obvious, but with two kids and a third one arriving in a couple of weeks, surviving feels like the most important objective to focus on.
